No sex? No problem

How to enjoy your relationship fully clothed.

Your thoughts (175) No sex? No problem

Sex! Just saying the word is enough to get people talking and temperatures rising. Let’s face it — we think about sex a lot. It doesn’t matter if we are dating or not, or if we are actually interested in experiencing sex.

Sex is bound to come up when you are in a relationship: will you have it, are you ready?

But what if you are not interested in sex? What then?

Firstly, it’s important to know that there is nothing wrong with wanting to be sexually active as long as you are know how to keep yourself safe from pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections by protecting yourself with condoms.

Secondly, sex is a decision you make for yourself, not for bae or because you feel left out.

Thirdly, it is OKAY to be in a relationship and want to wait to start having sex, or not even make sex part of the relationship.

Worried about how you will bond without sex?

Intimacy is not just physical, or about sex. In fact, some couples who hold off on having sex say it makes them put more effort into being close emotionally.

There are lots of things you can do to show your bae that you love them and are invested in the relationship without getting naked.

Add magic by trying new things as often as you can. It can be a once-off activity like a dancing class or something you do long term like taking up the challenge to run 5km together.

Relationships feel fresh when we add some excitement to them. Try going on regular dates. This can be watching a movie at the cinema or going for a picnic at the park (or in your garden if your parents don’t mind). Dates are not about money, so look for free activities in your city, you can spend quality time just going for a sunset stroll.

Tip: For a big date out, try saving up and going to the zoo, aquarium or amusement park like Gold Reef City and Ratanga Junction.
